Home Stretch

February 16, 2009

Right before I put it down to write this, I started the 16th row (out of 18) of the Celtic cable chart on TYC. This thing has caused me so much grief. If I don’t screw up sometime in the next three rows, I’ll have ripped back at least 5 times. Most of the mistakes happened on the rows with the most cable crosses. I’ve miscounted, left out parts of the chart, and  gone insane while knitting this thing.

One thing that made it really hard for me was the fact that I tend to knit cables super tight. Since there are so many cable crosses, my hands couldn’t take knitting this thing for long extended periods of time. Also, the chart itself would have been easier to read had there been a way to perhaps shade every 4 stitches or so, as markers.

I’m keeping this post short because I plan on knitting into the night, well past the cable chart. I want to get on to the finishing already. Thinking about having to knit the button band bums me out, but I’ll deal with that when it comes.
